Have you been thinking about getting a tattoo? It is not a small decision like whether to have a hamburger or a hot dog for lunch, it is a permanent part of your body, and will be with you for the rest of your life.
There are many reasons for getting a tattoo, some of which are great, and some show lack of thinking. Getting a tattoo that has deep meaning to you, or expresses something that you believe is a great idea. You can get religious tattoos to show your faith in which ever higher power you believe in. You can also get a tattoo to remember a friend or family member who is no longer with us.
It is not advisable to get the name of a current boyfriend or girlfriend, because they may not be with you forever, but the ink will never leave you, no matter how much you want it to. Another trend I have noticed lately is political tattoos. People are tattooing the logo of their favorite political party onto their skin, and in one case I saw, the logo of a certain candidate. I personally would not recommend this because parties and candidates change their positions on issues, and if it is a main issue for you, you may no longer support that party of candidate a few years down the road.
Band and singer tattoos are also popular, but I would advise against them, because you might not like them in a few years, and if the tattoo is in a visible place, it might lower people’s opinion of you, or cause you problems in places like job interviews and other places where you need to make a positive impression.
In closing, I think that you should choose a tattoo that has a deep significance and meaning to you, and not one that may loose its meaning a few years down the road. You should get something that you will be proud of instead of something that you will want to hide under your shirt sleeves.
