Motorola Droid Reviews

by Carol on October 30, 2009

The Verizon Droid Pre Order rumour is apparently true this phone will be available on the 6th November 2009 and can be pre ordered now. The Motorola droid is the much awaited phone that runs Google’s Android 2.0 platform.

So what do you get for your estimated $200 and $150 per month.

  • Unlimited texts, voice and data
  • The Droid has a 3.7 * 2.35 * 0.54 LCD screen and weighs in at 6 oz
  • CPU runs at 600MHz
  • Multitasking operating system
  • Wiifi and GPS built in
  • 5 Mega Pixal camera
  • 6.5 hour battery life – 370 hours standby
  • Can handle Gmail and Pop3 Email
  • Exchange server support
  • GPS tracking via Google maps
  • Youtube video support

When you compare the Droid vs Iphone I don’t see a lot of difference. The purchase and monthly costs are about the same and lets face it the Iphone has been around for a while and is a stable platform well known and loved by it’s users.

If I was in the market for a new phone, had the money and didn’t mind the hassle that owning an untested (in the field) platform then I’d probably pick the Droid. After all nothing is better than owning the latest shiney toy particulary when it’s in short supply.
